Stoma Solutions for all Australians

Who are we?

The Stoma Industry Association (SIA) comprises the major manufacturers of stoma products reimbursed on the Stoma Appliance Scheme (SAS) for people with intimate healthcare needs.

SIA Members:

What is the Stoma Industry Association (SIA) advocating for?

The Stoma Industry Association (SIA) is dedicated to driving change, putting patient outcomes and innovation first to ensure Australia is amongst the world leaders in stoma care provision.

Why - Australia is lagging the rest of the world in supporting it’s 50,000 ostomates, of whom:

  • 46,000* worry about leakage from their bag

  • 10,000* stay at home

Limited clinical resources, a just in time multi site distribution model and lack of reward for innovation is deterring innovative product solutions from entering the Australian market, compromising patient outcomes, and increasing cost to the overall healthcare system.
